Just curious on what the biggest bhp youv'e heard off being put out by an 01 R1 is Brian?

Just wondering as I love the shape of the 98-01 and I'm quite sure as none of us road users are rossi that they should be more than a handful for the road? Or should I hold of and sign the dotted line for a big bang as I just got cleared for the finance today?

Do I really need to put myself in 7-8K of debt to have a bit of fun on the public roads or will the 01 do the job and keep up with most bikes?

The most I have seen from an early R1 is a bit short of 180bhp, although that had a fair bit of work done.
If you were prepared to spend a few quid, you would have a bike that very few would get past!
It really depends on what you want,. If you need something shiny, buy the new one, if you want to surprise a few guys & have something different, do find a really nice older bike & do some work to it.

Considering how much shitty weather we have I can't justify having a bike at 10K that would spend most of its life in a shed while I still pay the finance on it let alone spend money tuning it lol

Your the one who told me to get a 600 as the R1 is to quick for the roads and now you want a R1 or fireblade, So I think a mighty R1 bought cash is the way to go, It might not be the newest but it will be mine Wink

its not that, the 848 has me annoyed waiting on parts and I dont really
like the new gixer 750.id not sell an 09 bike for an older model so
thats why I was looking at the blade or R1.As for spending most of its
time in a shed, be a man an get it wet, I only had the duke off the
road for 8 weeks this year Laughing
